Need a home EV charger in Marlboro, NJ? Spartan Home Pros, a locally owned and family operated electrician and HVAC service company, puts in Level 2 units and Tesla Wall Connectors with our own crews, sent from our Hazlet office on Route 35; call (732) 585-6560. We check the panel before anything else, file the township permit, and give you one flat price, never an hourly meter, and our technicians are background-checked. From Route 9 to the streets near Big Brook Park, most Marlboro garages have room for a charger; the question is the panel.
For more on how we do this work across the state, see our EV charger installation page and our guide to EV charger installation cost in New Jersey. For any other job in town, our Marlboro electrician page has the details.
One of the Busiest EV Towns in Monmouth County
Marlboro had about 2,600 electric cars registered as of June 2025, one of the highest counts of any town we serve, according to state data mapped by the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority. At the end of 2023 the number was closer to 1,700, so it grew by more than half in a year and a half. A lot of those homes now have two EVs, or one EV and a second on the way.
That steady demand is why Marlboro is one of our most common stops for charger work. The photos on this page show a Level 2 charger we installed in Marlboro.

Big Colonials, Two-Car Garages, Full Panels
Marlboro’s housing is newer than most of our area. Census data puts the typical home at around 1987, and about half were built between 1980 and 1999, mostly four- and five-bedroom colonials with attached two- or three-car garages. The panel often sits in the garage or in the basement right behind it, which keeps the wire run short.
The catch is space in the panel, not its age. Over thirty years, many of these houses picked up a finished basement, a hot tub, a second fridge, a pool pump and bigger air conditioning. By the time the first EV arrives, there may be no slots left. We add up the real load before we quote, and we tell you straight if a smart charger with a lower setting will do the job without new service.
If the panel truly needs to grow, stepping up to 200-amp service leaves space for the charger now and for a heat pump down the road. Our panel upgrade page explains what that involves. Marlboro homeowners can also see our panel upgrades in Marlboro page for the township permit and timing.
Charging Two Cars in One Garage

When both cars in the garage are electric, there are a few ways to handle it. Some chargers, the Tesla Wall Connector among them, can link two units on one circuit and split the power between the cars. Others need a circuit each. For most families, two cars sharing a 48-amp circuit overnight still wake up with plenty of range for a commute up Route 9 or Route 18.
We look at how far each of you drives, how full the panel is and where each car parks, then price both options so you can choose.
What JCP&L Customers Should Know
Marlboro is JCP&L territory, and the utility money that used to help here is gone for now: the JCP&L home make-ready incentive stopped taking applications at the end of June 2025. The utility does still list a time-of-use credit for charging during off-peak hours, which can lower what you pay per mile. The federal tax credit for home chargers is also gone for units put in service after June 30, 2026, so plan on the quoted price being your actual cost.
Brands We Are Certified to Install
Our crews hold Tesla Certified Installer status, plus ChargePoint and Emporia installer certification. Any other major brand is fine too, and a Tesla Wall Connector works with non-Tesla cars through an adapter. If you have not bought a charger yet, tell us what you drive and we will suggest a unit that fits your car and your panel.
EV Charger Prices for Marlboro Homes
Our Level 2 installs in Marlboro usually come in between $1,000 and $2,600. A garage charger a few feet from the panel sits near the low end. A charger out at the end of a long driveway, or a second unit for a second car, costs more. If the panel needs work first, that is priced on its own, in writing.

How a Marlboro Install Works
- We check the panel, the garage and where each car parks, then give you a flat price.
- We file the permit with the Marlboro construction office at the municipal complex, 1979 Township Drive. Morganville and Robertsville addresses file there too.
- Our crew installs the circuit and charger, usually in one day, and sets up the app with you.
- We meet the township inspector and confirm the car is charging at the rate it should.
“…Spoke with Mariano and he was friendly and informative. Luckily there was availability for Monday, and I was promptly scheduled in. Tyler and Al showed up on time and they were nothing but professional. The install was done quick, clean and the whole process was easy. …”

Marlboro EV Charger Questions
How much is a Level 2 charger install in Marlboro?
Most Marlboro installs we do cost $1,000 to $2,600. In a typical 1980s or 1990s colonial with the panel in the garage or the basement right behind it, the job often lands toward the lower end. A full panel that has to be replaced is priced on its own, typically $2,000 to $7,000, and you hear about it before anything is booked.
Does JCP&L give a rebate for home chargers in Marlboro?
Not right now. The JCP&L make-ready incentive for homes stopped accepting applications at the end of June 2025, and the utility has said it only expects to bring it back if the state Board of Public Utilities tells it to. JCP&L still lists a time-of-use credit for off-peak charging, which is worth asking about after the charger is in.
We have two electric cars. Do we need two circuits?
Not always. Some chargers, including the Tesla Wall Connector, can share one circuit between two units and split the power. Whether that works or you need two full circuits depends on how far you each drive and how much room the panel has. We check and give you both prices.
I live in Morganville. Is my permit through Marlboro?
Yes. Morganville and Robertsville are part of Marlboro Township, so the charger permit is filed with the Marlboro construction office at 1979 Township Drive. We file it and meet the inspector.
How long does a charger install take in Marlboro?
Usually one day once the permit is approved. If the panel needs an upgrade first, we schedule that with JCP&L and the township and give you the timeline up front.
Can you install a charger in a townhouse or HOA community?
Often, yes, but the association usually has to approve any outside work or any wiring that crosses shared space. Get the HOA’s rules in writing first, and we will plan the install to match them.
