Scheduling & Emergency Service

Does Spartan Home Pros offer 24/7 emergency service? Yes. We operate 24/7, every day of the year, for both electrical and HVAC emergencies. Phone response is immediate when you call. For true emergencies, our target is to get a licensed technician on-site within about an hour, depending on distance, weather, and current workload.

What counts as an electrical emergency? Common electrical emergencies include burning smells, sparking outlets, major power loss in parts of the home, frequently tripping breakers that won't reset, exposed wiring, and any situation that feels unsafe. If you're not sure whether it's an emergency, call — we'll help you decide.

What counts as an HVAC emergency? Common HVAC emergencies include a furnace that won't fire in cold weather, an AC system that's failed during a heat wave, gas smells around heating equipment, water leaks from HVAC systems, and any situation creating a health or safety risk.

How quickly can Spartan Home Pros respond to a service call? For non-emergency work, same-day and next-day service is the norm. With offices in both Hazlet and Bridgewater, we cover a wide service area with relatively short drive times. For emergencies, we respond 24/7 with a target arrival of about an hour.

How fast can you respond to an electrical problem?

  • Phone response: Immediate. When you call, we answer.

  • Emergency calls: Target arrival is about 1 hour, depending on location, weather, and current jobs.

  • Non-emergency appointments: Scheduled at a convenient time — often same-day or next-day when possible.

Pricing & Estimates

Are estimates provided in writing? Yes. Every quote includes the full scope of work, materials, timeline, and price in plain language before any work begins. No surprise upsells, no mystery charges.

Does Spartan Home Pros offer financing? Yes. Financing is available on qualifying installations including panel upgrades, EV charger installations, central air systems, mini splits, generators, and full HVAC replacements. Ask about financing options when you schedule.

What is your service call fee? Our minimum service call is $229.99. This includes coming to your home and performing at least one basic repair — such as replacing a standard outlet or switch. Additional outlets or switches during the same visit are typically $89.99 each.

We don't drive out just to replace a single outlet for $89.99. The $229.99 minimum ensures the visit is worthwhile and allows us to address more than one small item if needed.

How much does electrical troubleshooting cost? Typical pricing for electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics ranges from $259.99 to $389.99, depending on:

  • The complexity of the issue

  • The time required on site

  • How extensive the diagnosis needs to be

Troubleshooting covers identifying the real cause of power loss, tripping breakers, partial power, GFCI issues, and other intermittent or hard-to-find electrical problems.

What do you charge for after-hours emergency service? After-hours and outside-banking-hours emergency electrical and HVAC service typically starts at $389.99. This covers immediate scheduling priority, travel and evaluation, and stabilizing the situation to make it safe. Any additional repairs or materials are discussed and approved by you before we proceed.

How much does an electrical panel upgrade cost? Most electrical panel upgrades range from $2,400 to $7,000 depending on:

  • Existing panel condition and size

  • Desired panel size and amperage (e.g., 200A or 400A)

  • Wiring condition and any necessary corrections

  • Distance to utility service and coordination with the power company

  • Additional circuits or sub-panels being added at the same time

We inspect your system, explain your options, and provide a clear written estimate before any work begins.

How much does an EV charger installation cost in NJ? Typical Level 2 EV charger installations range from $1,000 to $2,600 depending on:

  • The charger type and brand (Tesla, ChargePoint, Wallbox, etc.)

  • Distance from panel to charger location

  • Whether the existing panel can handle the new load

  • Any panel upgrades or trenching/wiring that may be needed

We have specific training and experience with Tesla, ChargePoint, and other major EV charging systems.

How much does it cost to replace a light fixture or chandelier?

  • Standard light fixtures and many hanging fixtures: Usually $229.99 to $389.99, depending on height, access, and complexity.

  • Chandeliers and large crystal fixtures: Typically in the $3,500 to $5,000 range due to additional structure, weight, height, and labor involved.

We review your specific fixture, ceiling height, and support structure before quoting a firm price.

How much does a home electrical inspection cost? Spartan Home Pros offers three inspection tiers:

  • Report Review — $89.99 (remote review of an existing home inspection report)

  • Visual Inspection — $379.99 (on-site visual assessment with written report)

  • In-Depth Investigation — $979.99 (detailed inspection including testing outlets and investigating hidden wiring)

Inspection fees are credited toward repair costs if repairs are performed.

Is Spartan Home Pros the cheapest electrician? No, and that's on purpose. Our philosophy is: "We may be beat on price, but we will not be beat on service. We're not the cheapest and not the most expensive. We believe in good work at a fair price."

We focus on high-quality code-compliant work, honest transparent pricing, long-term customer relationships, and standing behind every job with a lifetime workmanship guarantee.

Warranty & Guarantee

Does Spartan Home Pros offer a warranty? Yes. We provide a lifetime guarantee on our workmanship for everything we install. If there's a problem caused by our installation work, we come back and correct the issue at no labor cost to you.

What is covered by the lifetime workmanship guarantee? The lifetime guarantee covers items we installed, including:

  • Recessed lighting and fixtures we installed

  • Outlets and switches we replaced

  • Panels and breakers we installed

  • Circuits and wiring we ran

  • HVAC equipment we installed (subject to manufacturer warranty terms)

If any of these fail due to our workmanship, we come back and fix it — no labor charge.

What isn't covered by the workmanship guarantee? The lifetime workmanship guarantee does not cover:

  • Manufacturer defects or failures in equipment we did not supply

  • Customer-supplied fixtures or devices with internal defects (e.g., old fixtures with faulty internal wiring)

  • EV chargers or hot tubs with internal electronics or circuit boards that fail (those are covered by manufacturer warranty)

  • Pre-existing wiring issues or problems outside our scope of work

We always explain whether an issue is related to our workmanship or a separate equipment/age issue, and we never charge for an honest answer.

Licensing & Permits

Does Spartan Home Pros pull permits? Yes, on every job that requires one. We handle the permit application and coordinate inspections with the appropriate municipal building department. Permitted work is on record — which matters when you sell the home, file an insurance claim, or refinance.

Why do permits matter for electrical and HVAC work? Permits matter for three reasons:

  • Safety: A code inspector verifies the work meets current standards

  • Legal: Most NJ municipalities require permits for new circuits, panel replacements, HVAC installations, EV chargers, and similar work

  • Financial: Unpermitted work can void your homeowner's insurance, complicate a home sale, or invalidate manufacturer warranties

What's the difference between a licensed electrician and a handyman doing electrical work? A licensed electrician in New Jersey has passed state licensing requirements, carries appropriate insurance, follows NJ Electrical Subcode and NEC, and is authorized to pull permits and pass municipal inspections. A handyman or unlicensed worker cannot legally pull permits, may not carry sufficient insurance, and is not bound by the same safety standards. For any work involving a panel, new circuits, or service entrance, only a licensed electrician should be used.

Is Spartan Home Pros' license number publicly verifiable? Yes. Both our NJ Electrical License (#34EB01810700) and NJ HVAC License (#19HC00702000) are searchable on the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs website (njconsumeraffairs.gov).

What systems and equipment is Spartan Home Pros trained on? We have specific training and experience with:

  • Tesla EV charging systems (Wall Connector and others)

  • ChargePoint Home Flex EV chargers

  • Generac standby generators

  • Lutron lighting controls

  • Leviton electrical and smart home products

  • All major HVAC brands including Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, American Standard, Mitsubishi (mini splits), Daikin (mini splits), Nest, Ecobee, and Honeywell

  • Electrical inspections — pre-purchase, pre-listing, insurance-required, and code compliance corrections

Does Spartan Home Pros replace Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels? Yes. Federal Pacific Stab-Lok and Zinsco panels are among the most common panel replacements we perform across NJ. Both have documented histories of failing to trip under overload conditions, making them a real safety concern. Many home insurance carriers have flagged these panels and may require replacement to maintain coverage. We replace them regularly throughout Monmouth, Somerset, Union, Middlesex, and Morris counties.

How do I know if my home needs a panel upgrade? Common signs include:

  • Breakers that trip frequently

  • The panel is a Federal Pacific or Zinsco brand

  • The home still has 100A service

  • You're planning to add an EV charger or central air

  • The panel is visibly damaged or rusted

  • Your insurance carrier has flagged the panel

  • You can't add new circuits because the panel is full

Can Spartan Home Pros install a Level 2 EV charger? Yes. We install Level 2 home EV chargers for all major brands. Installation includes panel capacity assessment, dedicated 240V circuit, code-compliant wiring, permit application, and inspection coordination. Most installations are completed in 2-4 hours.

What major EV charger brands does Spartan Home Pros install? We install all major Level 2 EV charger brands including Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint Home Flex, Wallbox Pulsar Plus, Emporia, Grizzl-E, and JuiceBox. We also install hardwired 240V circuits and NEMA 14-50 outlets for customer-supplied portable chargers.

Does Spartan Home Pros work on knob-and-tube and aluminum wiring? Yes. Knob-and-tube wiring (common in pre-1950s NJ homes) and aluminum branch wiring (common in 1965-1973 construction) are routinely encountered in our work — particularly in older communities like Westfield, Chatham, Cranford, and parts of Berkeley Heights. We assess the condition, identify safety concerns, and provide rewiring or replacement solutions where needed.

Does Spartan Home Pros install whole-home generators? Yes. We install whole-home and critical-load standby generators including transfer switch wiring, fuel line coordination, dedicated subpanel work, and proper integration with existing electrical service. We're trained on Generac systems specifically. Generators are particularly common in areas with frequent power outages like Basking Ridge, Bedminster, Chester, Holmdel, and Rumson.

Does Spartan Home Pros do pool and hot tub electrical? Yes. Pool and hot tub electrical installations and bonding to NEC and NJ subcode requirements — including dedicated circuits, GFCI protection, and underwater bonding.

Does Spartan Home Pros do outdoor and landscape lighting? Yes. Outdoor lighting installations including flood lights, security lighting, low-voltage LED landscape lighting, pathway lighting, deck and patio lighting, and dock lighting for waterfront properties.

HVAC Services

Does Spartan Home Pros install central air conditioning? Yes. We install, replace, and service central air conditioning systems for all major brands including Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, and American Standard. Installation includes proper load calculation, ductwork assessment, equipment placement, electrical hookup, and permit and inspection coordination.

Does Spartan Home Pros install mini split systems? Yes. We install ductless mini split systems for finished basements, converted attics, additions, sunrooms, garages, pool houses, and detached structures. Mini splits are particularly common in older homes where extending existing ductwork isn't practical.

Does Spartan Home Pros repair furnaces? Yes. We service, troubleshoot, and repair gas, oil, and electric furnaces across all major brands. We provide honest diagnosis — recommending repair when it makes sense and replacement when it doesn't.

Does Spartan Home Pros install heat pumps? Yes. We install high-efficiency electric heat pump systems for NJ homeowners. Heat pump installations often qualify for NJ Clean Energy Program rebates, particularly for homeowners converting from oil or aging gas heating systems.

Does Spartan Home Pros work on boilers and radiator heating? Yes. We service, repair, and replace hot water and steam boilers, including conversions to high-efficiency combi systems that combine heating and on-demand hot water in a single unit. Boiler work is particularly common in older Westfield, Chatham, Cranford, and Bridgewater homes still running on original radiator setups.

Does Spartan Home Pros install smart thermostats? Yes. We install and configure Nest, Ecobee, Honeywell, and other smart thermostats. Installation includes C-wire installation when needed for older HVAC systems that don't have one.

Does Spartan Home Pros handle indoor air quality systems? Yes. We install whole-home humidifiers, dehumidifiers, HEPA filtration, and UV air purification systems.

Are there NJ rebates available for HVAC upgrades? Yes. The NJ Clean Energy Program offers rebates for high-efficiency heat pump installations, central AC replacements meeting efficiency thresholds, and other qualifying upgrades. Utility-specific rebates from PSE&G, JCP&L, and other NJ utilities are also available periodically. We help identify applicable rebates during the quoting process.

Does Spartan Home Pros offer HVAC maintenance plans? Yes. Annual tune-up plans include pre-season inspections, cleaning, refrigerant checks, and component testing. Plan members get priority emergency scheduling and discounted repairs throughout the year. Particularly valuable for coastal properties (Hazlet, Rumson, Sea Bright) where salt air accelerates outdoor unit wear.

Real Estate, Insurance & Inspections

Does Spartan Home Pros work with real estate agents? Yes. We work directly with real estate agents handling buyer and seller transactions throughout NJ. We provide fast turnaround on electrical inspection reports (typically within 24 hours), repair estimates, and pre-listing assessments. We offer preferred rates for agents who refer clients to us regularly.

Can Spartan Home Pros help with electrical issues flagged during a home inspection? Yes. Our $89.99 Report Review service includes reviewing your existing home inspection report's electrical findings and providing a detailed repair estimate. The $89.99 fee is credited toward repair costs over $500.

Will homeowners insurance require an electrical inspection or panel upgrade? Increasingly, yes. Many NJ insurance carriers require documentation of electrical condition for older homes, homes with Federal Pacific or Zinsco panels, and homes with knob-and-tube or aluminum branch wiring. Some carriers will not write or renew coverage without documentation that the electrical system is in safe condition. Our written inspection reports satisfy this requirement.

Should I get a pre-listing electrical inspection before selling my NJ home? For older homes, often yes. Pre-listing inspections identify issues like knob-and-tube wiring, ungrounded outlets, Federal Pacific panels, and missing GFCIs before a buyer's inspector flags them. This lets the seller control the narrative and the cost — rather than negotiating under closing-day pressure.
