Chandeliers, Foyers and Ceilings You Cannot Reach

A chandelier in a two-story foyer is not a light fixture job — it is a weight, height and access job that happens to involve wiring. That is why homeowners in Short Hills, Millburn, Livingston, Mendham and Basking Ridge call us for it instead of doing what they would happily do themselves in a bedroom.

The part that goes wrong

Most ceiling boxes in older homes were installed to hold a five pound light. A real chandelier can weigh forty, and the box holding it was never rated for that. The fixture goes up, looks perfect, and slowly works the box loose over a season. Every chandelier we hang starts with confirming what is above the ceiling and installing a properly rated brace where the existing box will not do — that is the difference between a fixture that hangs for thirty years and one that comes down.

What We Install

Chandeliers in foyers, dining rooms and stairwells, including two-story spaces that need scaffolding rather than a ladder. Heavy statement fixtures on rated bracing. Replacements where the old fixture is coming down and the new one is a different size and weight entirely. Dimmers matched to the bulbs so your new fixture does not flicker or buzz. And the awkward ones — over a staircase, over a tub, above a landing with nowhere to stand.

Older Homes, Original Ceilings

Plaster medallions, original crown molding and horsehair plaster all deserve better than a rushed installation. We work around them, protect what is there, and leave the ceiling looking like nothing happened except the light got better. If the existing wiring at the fixture is original knob and tube or brittle cloth, we tell you before we hang anything on it.

What It Costs

Standard light fixture replacement runs $229.99 to $389.99. Chandeliers, two-story foyers, added bracing and scaffolding are quoted in writing before we start, because those jobs genuinely differ house to house. No hourly meter, no surprises at the end.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We recently hired Spartan Home Pros for a multi-zone mini split installation, and they did an outstanding job from start to finish. A special shoutout to the lead technician, Charles—he was incredibly diligent, meticulous, and dedicated throughout the entire installation.
Charles and the team took the time to ensure every line was run cleanly, all wiring and line-hide covers were neat, and all manufacturer clearances and specs were strictly followed. They handled a tight installation spot upstairs with total professionalism and made sure everything was done right the first time. The team left the job site completely spotless, and having the system up and running with both heating and cooling working flawlessly is an amazing upgrade for our home. If you want true craftsmanship and honest, reliable work, I highly recommend Spartan Home Pros!

Thank you for making this home upgrade a reality. 🙌

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It was a pleasure to deal with Al and Christian for our electrician estimates, followed by Al and Luke for the actual work. Spartan added a new outlet in our bedroom, added a much needed light and switch in our bedroom closet, replaced a poorly functioning switch/outlet in our garage, and replaced a barely functioning outside outlet. They also recommended and replaced five switches in our kitchen and garage. If needed in the future, I would definitely use Spartan Home Pros again.

Charles was very knowledgeable and friendly and got our sump pump back on line. He also gave us great advice for managing the circuit for the future as well. Very friendly and skilled.

I called on Labor Day, not expecting anyone to answer. Not only did someone answer, but they were able to answer my questions immediately about fire detector issues I was having and scheduled my appointment the following day. The electricians that came into our home were knowledgeable, clean, and quiet (I was working at home and on calls while they were installing a bunch of new fire detectors). They did a great job.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. After months of frustration with three different electricians not showing up or not completing the work, I finally found Spartan! They were so quick, friendly, informative and affordable. Al and his assistant were here on time, communicated clearly the entire time about what they were doing, and were an absolute pleasure to have in my home!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Highly recommend this company. They installed brand-new hardwired smoke detectors throughout our home and were excellent from start to finish. They were very transparent about the work and pricing, easy to communicate with before we agreed to move forward, and kept us informed throughout the job.

They also paid attention to the little things, like making sure they didn’t leave dirty fingerprints on the new detectors or our ceilings. That level of care definitely stood out.

They even stayed late to make sure everything was completed properly, which we really appreciated. Professional, responsive, clean, and reliable. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone needing electrical or smoke detector work.
